In our development team, we work together to build secure and reliable solutions that help our customers communicate safely. We are now looking for a Junior Developer to join our team in Reading, Berkshire. This role offers hybrid working.

About the job
As a Junior Developer, you will work closely with other developers and support staff. Your main job will be to help develop and support our new C# communications platform. This platform will be responsible for the handling of critical alarm signals. Your responsibilities will include:

• Building microservices and infrastructure for a high availability messaging platform.
• Creating and maintaining APIs for managing the platform.
• Working as part of an Agile development team.
• Debugging, testing, and verification.
• Providing 3rd line support to 1st line support teams.
• Ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations in software designs.
• Following best practices for secure software development.
• Researching and evaluating new technologies to improve our products.
• Documenting design specifications, test procedures, and project updates.

About you

• 1–2 years of experience in software development, or strong skills shown in a project portfolio.
• Knowledge of .NET development and modern software development patterns and practices.
• Skills in C#, Python, SQL, and NoSQL.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Desirable Skills

• Work tracking platforms (such as Azure DevOps or Jira)
• Build automation tools (like Azure DevOps or Jenkins)
• Cloud systems (AWS, Azure, etc.)
• Automated testing (unit, integration, or GUI tests)
• Kubernetes and containerisation
• Infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, etc.)
• Modern web frameworks (Angular, React, Svelte, Vue.js)
• Multiple programming languages
• Messaging systems (Kafka or similar)
